What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment which focuses on the bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, and connective tissue and the way in which this interrelates with the body as a whole. It combines specific knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology and clinical methods of investigation.
We do not just treat bones! Osteopathy is helpful in overcoming pain and difficulties with walking, climbing stairs, dressing and getting up from beds and chairs. Common conditions that respond well to treatment are
- Aches and pains
- Backache or lumbago
- Muscle tension or spasm
- neuralgia
- sciatica
- digestive problems
- joint problems
- muscle, tendon or ligament strains
Approximately 50% of our patients have problems relating to the neck and back. We also treat babies and young children.
